In the Shakespearian play 'Macbeth', it seems to be that every one thinks that Macbeth is the villain. But in actual fact Lady Macbeth is the villain. Lady Macbeth uses her cunning and deceptive skills to over power Macbeth into killing King Duncan. When Lady Macbeth receives the letter telling her about the witches' prophecies, she immediately thinks that she and Macbeth will have to kill King Duncan. She calls Macbeth too kind to kill King Duncan and saying that
"Is to fill o' the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way"
Lady Macbeth- Act 1 scene V.
Lady Macbeth knows that King Duncan must be killed for Macbeth to become king, Lady Macbeth feels too feminine to be implicated in this genocide so she goes and asks the gods to fill her with ruthlessness and hate but to still have the contraceptive powers to deceive a modest human being like Macbeth.
"Come, you spirits that tend on moral thoughts, unsex me here,
And fill me, from the crown to the toe, Top-full of direst cruelty.
Make thick my blood."

This passage shows Lady Macbeth asking the gods to fill her with all ruthlessness and hate to commit the killing of King Duncan but to have outer deceptive qualities to perceive other people like Macbeth himself.
Lady Macbeth is getting very confused that Macbeth is refusing to kill King Duncan and she cannot commit the crime her self because evidently King Duncan resembles too much like her father. She fells that Macbeth is not a man and she ridicules and tries to persuade him to kill King Duncan by saying that he is not a man and that the only way to become a man is to kill the king.
When Macbeth refuses to kill King Duncan as he feels that it is the wrong thing to do and he won't be able to live with the guilt and he though to himself "Why kill some one that has been so good to me?" Macbeth is torn to the part where his wife's love is more important to him than committing terrible crime. Lady Macbeth herself said to him that his love will be nothing if he does not go through the plan. Macbeth is under a lot of pressure here and cannot decide for himself because Lady Macbeth is forcing and threatening to leave him forever.
"I dare do all that may become a man, who
dares do more, is none"

When Lady Macbeth is trying to manipulate Macbeth and telling him that he is not a man, in fact Macbeth is begging the best man he can be. She constantly attacks Macbeth with ideas and thoughts to provoke Macbeth into committing the crime.
Lady Macbeth herself goes and uses her cunning and deceptive feminine ways to drug the guards to make the doors to King Duncan's chamber open. She gives Macbeth the daggers and tells him to go and kill Duncan. That shows that she is forcing Macbeth to go and she uses her deceptive way but inside she is a serpent which clearly shows that she has the characteristics of a villain.
"Appear innocent like the slower but be the serpent under 'T"

After the murder of King Duncan, Macbeth comes back with the bloody daggers that killed King Duncan. Lady Macbeth takes the daggers and places them back into the king's chamber after she wipes the guards clothes in the blood of Duncan. She comes back to Macbeth and tells him that she placed the daggers back in the chamber.
"My hands are of your colour; but I shame to
wear a heart so white"

As she sees her and Macbeths hands indorsed in blood she dose not think of the emotional scars and guilt that Macbeth will have to live with but she only implies
"A little water clears us of this deed; how easy is it then!"

After the murder, Lady Macbeth goes insane and cannot live with the fact of killing King Duncan and framing two innocent people for a crime they did not commit. Macbeth had no idea or thoughts of killing King Duncan until Lady Macbeth came in to the picture and distorted his vision and deceived his thoughts. This clearly shows that Lady Macbeth is a villain indeed. As Lady Macbeth goes insane, sleep walks and in her sleep walk she is trying to wash away the sins from her buy washing her hands.
"Out, dammed spot, I say"

As Lady Macbeth tries to wash away all the blood and sin of her hand she illustrates that she cannot accept the fact of committing genocide and it is driving her insane to the point where she commits suicide and showing that she is a true villain.
Lady Macbeth is the true villain by her contraceptive ways of body language and talk. She thoroughly represents her inner villain with several acts of unprecedented deeds. Her cunning and inner ruthlessness has driven her to utter madness and only a true villain would do something like this. Therefore Lady Macbeth is the true villain.
